Present Employment
|
Driefontein Consolidated, part of a South African a gold mining company Goldfields Limited, currently employs me as Plant Superintendent (Extraction). I am responsible for the management of the complete Operational and Maintenance functions of the Extraction and Smelting sections of the metallurgical plant. I report to the Metallurgical Manager. I have held this position since it?s creation, on my recommendation, in October 1998. I am also involved in the strategic team responsible for the upgrading of the plant technology, as well as a member of the change management team.
My previous position with this company was Chief Metallurgist, as the manager of the Technical department of the gold plant. Apart from general managerial functions, this position required project feasibility studies, recommendations and implementation, i.e. project management. This included the redesign of the process control philosophy for the plant, making use of state of the art technology, i.e. replacing a DCS with a PLC & SCADA arrangement. This also implied the implementation of an NT based LAN network, linking into the mine-wide LAN. It further more required me to travel to the United States and Canada on investigation of best practices, which led to the implementation of a knowledge base expert control system.
